Teacher Resources

As an intermediate teacher, I’m always looking for a novel that will not only be of interest to my students, but also challenge the way they view themselves and their place in society.  Donna White’s “Bullets, Blood and Stones” was an ideal fit on both counts.  ~ Derek Sawyer, grade 7 & 8 teacher, Crestview Public School

I am a Grade 7/8 teacher of a Global Citizenship class and my students recently did a book study with this novel. It was extremely impactful, and my students not only enjoyed it but gained a great deal of insight and compassion toward the situation with child soldiers. They became very connected to Charlie, and very passionate toward trying to raise awareness of this issue.  ~ Lisa Dampier, grade 7 & 8 teacher, Westmount Public School

"Bullets, Blood and Stones had me on an emotional rollercoaster! The book makes you think of your life all over again. It's such an important book to read, since it teaches you a lot about others who don’t have much. I definitely think this book should be read by everyone."
~ grade 8 student at Al-Ameen Elementary School
